The senior citizen, from the Nottinghamshire area, confessed to a series of 17 offences when he appeared at the courthouse on recently.

Nevertheless, he denied a single sexual charge he was facing, which was involving a young boy.

Ruben was held in detention before a additional proceeding on 28 November.

'Treat game'

The legal representative, presenting evidence, outlined the defendant's actions to the court.

She said his those affected were under-privileged children who were attending a summer program which he managed.

The man conducted a "sweet game" with the youngsters, Mrs Prior explained, in which he would enter the children's bedrooms when they were getting ready for bed and ask them to consume candy "as quickly as they can".

She told the court the defendant had conducted this practice with the young males "repeatedly", and minors had earlier experienced illness the following morning.

She stated the man had been able to explain this for many years as the children being "overexcited from fun", until his family member had concerns in summer 2025.

Mrs Prior KC continued: "Recently" his stepson had concerns about what was going on, justifiably.

"They decided to examine in the man's possessions."

The legal counsel said materials including lubricant, Vaseline and syringes were found, and his stepson contacted the law enforcement about his worries.

She stated the man went on to conduct the "sweet game" with six youngsters that time - July 26th - and they were all ill the subsequent day.

"Law enforcement" had not gone out by that time," she added.

The regulatory agency, the investigative body, previously told that it was reviewing law enforcement's management of the situation.

Mrs Prior explained the children were struggling to walk due to their sickness, so the family member called the law enforcement again.

She said the man then conducted the "treat game" in a space of five minors.
